I like your post! For me, Bettys Bay is almost the nicest place in the world to stay. I am living in Germany but I am really lucky to have an uncle, who allows me to use his house in Disa Road every year. If it wouldn’t be neccessary to earn some money during the year, I wouldn’t mind to stay in Bettys Bay forever! Very relaxing! Not too hot, always a breeze! And during my last visit, I found my favourite restaurant there: The Tides!

The Main Beach actually used to be called ‘Hendrik Verwoerd Strand’ until about 10 or 15 years ago.
We also have a house there, Betty’s Bay is truly beautiful.

Is it possible that any of you people here, can tell me when the Verwoerd’s bought this house? Or since when have they owned the house.

Did you know that the house is still the property of the Verwoerd Trust?

Hi! Loved the report, funny enough i was in cape last week and took a drive up from Cape Town to Gans Baai, via gordans bay and hermanus last week thursday, stopped at Bettys Bay, saw the penguins then had a sandwich at Fritz’s cafe. A beautiful drive that stretch of coast, its hard to describe. Hope you still enjoying your travels as much as we enjoy reading about them!

Did you know that Hendrik Verwoerd had a holiday house in Betty”s Bay. Often used to see him walking on the beach when I was a boy. Betty’s Bay one of our favourite beach places.
